Terms of Service — BudgetSimpler

        The short version: Use BudgetSimpler responsibly, don't abuse the service, and understand that your financial data is your own responsibility to keep accurate. We provide the tools — you provide the data.
    

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using BudgetSimpler ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users of BudgetSimpler.

2. Description of Service

BudgetSimpler is a personal finance tracking application that allows users to manually record income, expenses, budget goals, recurring expenses, and debt. The Service also includes an AI-powered chat assistant to help users understand their financial data.

BudgetSimpler is a tool to help you organize your finances. It is not a financial advisor, bank, or licensed financial institution. Nothing in the Service constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice.

3. Account Registration

To use BudgetSimpler, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for:

Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
All activity that occurs under your account
Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
Ensuring the information you provide is accurate and up to date

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use BudgetSimpler only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service
Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service
Create multiple accounts to abuse free tier limits
Share your account credentials with others

5. Your Data

You retain full ownership of all financial data you enter into BudgetSimpler. We do not claim any ownership over your data. You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter.

You can export your data at any time using the CSV export feature. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at support@budgetsimpler.com.

6. AI Assistant

BudgetSimpler includes an AI-powered chat assistant. By using this feature, you acknowledge that:

Your financial data is sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses
AI responses are generated automatically and may not always be accurate
The AI assistant does not constitute professional financial advice
You should consult a qualified financial professional for important financial decisions

7. Free Service

BudgetSimpler is currently provided free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid tiers or modify the features available on the free tier at any time. We will provide reasonable notice to existing users before making such changes.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

BudgetSimpler is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
Any errors or defects will be corrected
The Service will meet your specific requirements
Data stored in the Service will not be lost

We strongly recommend maintaining your own backups of important financial data using the CSV export feature.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Airix Web Designs and BudgetSimpler shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (or $0 if you are on the free tier).

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms of Service. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. We will retain your data for up to 30 days after termination before permanent deletion, unless you request immediate deletion.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of BudgetSimpler after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
